The safest small cars on the market

Smaller cars are becoming increasingly popular on the roads, and so we decided to take a look into which small cars have been ranked the safest for British drivers. Each of the vehicles we have chosen has received five stars from NHTSA in addition to either a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS. Check them out below.
The Honda Fit is the only subcompact car to score both 5 stars from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS. Thanks to a product update, the car has earned a good rating in the frontal crash test. Additionally, a rearview camera comes standard even on the base trim level.
The traditional four-door Elantra performs very well in government safety tests. Overall, it snags five stars. However, it scores four in both front and rollover tests. It scores Good in each category except the difficult small overlap from test, where it earned an Acceptable.
Whether you opt for the sedan or hatchback version of this car, the Mazda is a brilliant choice when it comes to safety. The model includes some auto-braking technologies, which also scores satisfactory requirements for IIHS’ Top Safety Pick+ award. An obstruction warning will alert the driver if the vehicle gets too close to something ahead, and the Smart City Break Support will help deliver maximum stopping power when the driver applies the breaks to avoid a collision.
The Scoin TC is a no-frills model with fairly standard features. It has remote keyless entry, sport cloth seats, bluetooth, and a basic audio system. However it does lack front crash prevention technology, though due to it being structurally sound has scored five stars from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.
